Hiking and Tea...

Last week we went to Lookout mountain in Golden Colorado. We went for a little hike to check out the trails. At the top we found a wealth of information and trail maps for all the parks in the county, Rock! We now have a goal to tackle each park with hiking and mountain biking as much as possible!

Beautiful wildflowers, it is illegal to pick them I learned this as a child when I picked them on a hike with my friend Amy. When we got back to our condo my dad informed us that we just broke the law and there was a hefty fine for doing that. At age 12 Amy and I were nervous until we crossed the Kansas state line!

At the top of lookout mountain there is a mansion that was built in th e1920's. Now it is preserved and is a historical site.

This room below was just beautiful and would be a great place for a wedding reception! If anyone wants a mountain wedding this is a great spot with outdoor scenery and atmosphere.

We also visited the Celestial Seasonings factory last week in Boulder. For anyone who loves tea this place is a must! Their tea sampling room allows you to sample any of their teas, as many as you want for free. And they have a lot! Our table was full of little sampling cups.

We got to share this outing with Diana, Jordan and Seth! Matt went to high school with Diana and we have become very good friends with them the past few years during visits out to Colorado. Right now they live about 5 minutes away and it has been a lot of fun!

Seth the cutie!!
They also offer free factory tours, you have to wear hair nets. Matt and Jordan just came out of their tour to scare Seth. He wasn't scared though, just a little confused. Children under 5 cannot go into the factory due to particles in the air. It is harmful to them because their lungs aren't fully developed. The workers have to wear masks to protect themselves.

I sort of snuck this picture in during the tour. I didn't realize you weren't supposed to take pictures inside the factory. However the mint room is amazing. They have to keep all their mint, spearmint and the like separated otherwise it will seep into all the tea. You get to walk in though and it is so strong it clears your sinuses and stings your eyes!
On the way home there was this amazing most vibrant rainbow ever. There were actually double rainbows side by side. A beautiful end to a fantabulous day!

Ren Fest in Colorado!

So I have been a very bad blogger lately!! And I am so behind, yikes. Call me lazy but there really is no other explanation.

Last weekend we went to the Renaissance festival with Jess and Jaime. Jess was one of my roommates in college and one of the best gals ever! And Jaime is her sister who is also a lot of fun, and is now Jess's roomie. I have decided that Ren fest in the mountains is very enjoyable with the scenery and such, however the wind was awful and we all had dirt in our eyes, hair, clothes, well everywhere!

I enjoy the costumes and fancy outfits, this was one of the best fairies I have seen. Next year I may have to be a fairy!

Belly Dancers! Kaiden needs to see these gals, he is one and has some amazing belly moves already.

Swords!

Just before I grabbed this picture there elephants were entwtining thier trunks, it was so cute, but I missed it. I don't know if they were fighting or loving, but it was cute either way!

Jaime bought a couple of fun victorian corsets, here she is modeling for us. We convinced her she must wear it for the rest of the day! When else would you get to wear a corset around and totally fit in?

I gave Jess an apple from my bag and the horse loved it! He practically swallowed it whole, then green apple juice came spewing out of his mouth!

Playing with pirates, Jack Sparrow did make an appearance at the festival.

Victorian sisters being cute! They are both so tiny, of course they couldn't breath or laugh in those things.

Matt shooting arrows at hay bales.

Acrobats juggling swords while standing on one another!

Matt trying to win $5, if you climb this ladder (which they forget to tell you is impossible to do) you win the prize.

Matt was very good, but he ended up falling into the hay...

More acrobats

Irish music

Fun water wheel, I thought it was picturesque.

One must try on armor at the Ren fest!

And fun hats!

Now this was probably the coolest and most unique thing there. This guy calls himself Casting Bronze. He has taken bronze bells and made this instrument that he plays with hand and foot pedals. It was pretty amazing actually. Here is a link to a video on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0PGGQbtyXg

The Ren Fest would not be complete without a good jousting! We rooted for the bad guy even though we knew he would die, how is it he dies every year?
