So we went on a bike trip along the Elroy-Sparta state bike trail
about 3 hours west of Milwaukee. This bike trail is a converted
railway and is number 3 on the top ten bike trails of the midwest!
We got rained on, but we didn't mind because it kept us nice and cool!
The longest of them is 3/4 of a mile long and you walk into complete darkness, we had a
flashlight, but a puny one so it was rather scary. We each had our moments of panic going through them but we got through safely each time. The long one has an ice cave over the top of it, so there is water running along the edges and falling from the ceiling as you are walking into pitch blackness.
So we rode from Elroy, WI 32 miles into Sparta, WI. Sparta is suposedly called the bicycle capital of America, because 4 state trails that were old RR converge there. The town itself was not all that exciting, but they have the largest bicycle and we also saw a bike that was made for 7 people to ride! It was crazy, I guess they used to ride it in parades but retired it because it was too difficult to get 7 people to be in sync to ride it. They wanted to put it in their bicycle museum but it wouldn't fit, so it is hanging on up on the ceiling of a popular bike shop just off the trail.
